Item number: 19237442 | 1916 dated German military issue Luger by DWM in 9 mm caliber, serial number 1457 with unusual period stamping probably by Arsenal M.G. 109 on the side plate. The pistol shows 30% to 50% original blue turning to brown with some scattered erosion and pitting. The grips are good with even wear and use. All matching visible serial numbers including wood bottom clip. The action is good, the bore is very good plus and still bright. It is amazing to find a Luger that someone hasn’t actually restored…. yet. The markings on the side plate are intriguing and one collector thought it may be for a machine gun regiment. The barrel shows 2 approximately 1” areas of cleaning and loss of finish approximately 7” and 9” back from the muzzle on the left side. The stock shows some minor handling and slight use. The original hard rubber butt plate is retained and the action is good and the bore is fine. If not for the blue loss on the barrel the condition would be rated near fine. Est.: $300-$600

The barrel and magazine tube show 50-70% original blue thinning at the edges, some deep pitting and erosion at left front of magazine tube, with a few finger size spots on the barrel. The frame has drifted to a gray patina, there has been a notch cut in the bolt for an extra sight that is missing. The rear sight is missing its elevator; the front sight is marked Sheard, who were a sporting goods house and manufacturer of sights in the northwest, who also sold furs for trappers and were outfitters to trappers in the northwest and Alaskan frontiersmen. The markings are good, the action is good, the bore is good. Est.: $600-$1,200

The stock is very good plus with dings, mars and scratches. No evidence of cartouche or numbers in the stock. The bolt and exterior parts are all matching. The action is good and the bore is bright near fine. No import marks. A very nice model 98 Mauser which our consignor felt was issued to the Luftwaffe but we can find no evidence to that being a fact. Est.: $600-$1200

Item number: 19237565 | Armalite Model AR-17, 12 gauge semiautomatic shotgun made from lightweight alloy with composite plastic type stock. The receiver shows scroll decoration. The shotgun has a ventilated rib and screw off compensator at the end of the barrel. The barrel measures 25 ½” with removable choked attached. ArmaLite was originally of located in Costa Mesa California and was instrumental in the design of the M16. We believe this to be one of a number of prototypes Little John’s sold for the estate of the inventor approximately 20 to 25 years ago but no documentation included. These AR-17s were space age when designed in the 1960’s.The condition is fine to near excellent. Est.: $400-$800

The stock shows wear and use and is fair to good with a couple of small losses, dings, mars and scratches and normal aging. The original butt plate is retained. The rear of the action is mounted with a Western marked receiver sight that is patent pending. The action is good, the bore is good to very good and may clean. These early sporting rifles by Remington utilized a 1917 Enfield style commercial action and current high-grade gunsmiths rate them highly for conversion to big-game sporting calibers. This collection was displayed for nearly 50 years in downtown Reno until sold by Butterfield & Butterfield and this still has the collection’s brass inventory tag (#200); the frame is numbered 570318, the barrel is numbered 249385. The gun has a 30” ventilated factory style spoonback rib and etching on magazine tube and collar; the gun shows approx. 75% original thinning blue, the stocks are fair with some even edge wear, good burl wood grain and replacement of the black diamonds at the wrist; the hard rubber butt pad is deteriorated; action is good, bore good, stock measures approx. 13-7/8” from the trigger to the end of the wood, approx. 14-5/8” to the end of the pad. An interesting piece of memorabilia from one of Reno’s best-known casino owners and personalities. Est.: $750-$1,500.

A very attractive 19th century dirk that is most likely English; our consigner notes states: "S. Osborn Sheffield best refined cast steel" is marked under the handle but we did not want to remove the grip. Est.: $500-$1,000

The Luger shows some losses at the straps and muzzle area but is generally crisp with excellent markings and good surfaces. The trigger safety and small parts show considerable original straw finish. The grips are slightly darkened from oil with a few bumps and normal aging. All matching serial numbers, no Germany marking, and the takedown lever is numbered on the reverse side which is proper on “test guns”. The interior is very good and the bore is also very good plus. There is some slight beginning pitting and erosion on the inside strap. From the estate of Frank Semmo noted art dealer and old time collector. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.

The matching nickel plated shoulder stock shows significant loss to its nickel finish with a large amount of brass visible, a knurled screw secures the top leg to the pistol grip. The shoulder stock serial number matches the number on the base of the pistol grip. Interestingly, the action release button has been replaced with a milled piece of 9mm brass. Information gathered by consignor indicates this serial number range was issued to 1st Massachusetts volunteer regiment during the Civil War and he cites Springfield research service as his source which we have not verified. The revolver shows 90% to 95% of an old re-nickeled finish that is nicely aging and toning with some erosion and minor pitting. One nipple is busted and the action works well. The grips show a couple of small losses and a trace of a cartouche with some light cleaning probably with steel wool. It was the habit of veterans to have their swords and arms plated during the late 19th to 20th century and the service was even advertised in veterans magazines announcing G.A.R. events and reunions. The barrel measures 28 ½” and the rifle measures 44 ¾” overall and is of medium weight serial numbered 50998 on the action. The rifle retains 50% to 70% bright original bright blue on the receiver which is drifting at the edges with some losses and going to a natural patina. The metal surfaces show some minor scratches, the trigger guard shows 50% thinning blue, the lever shows strong traces of case hardening. The barrel shows 30% to 50% blue drifting to a brownish patina. The stocks are very good plus with crisp checkering, a few mars and scratches with normal use but at least very good plus. The forend cap is made of horn. The rifle is mounted with eyelets for hook type sling swivels. The action is tight and works well. The bore is at least very good plus and may clean considerably. Restored to excellent by Pachmayr many years ago and approximately 95% to 98% blue and case hardening remaining with some drifting on the edges of the barrel. Good markings remain. The stocks have also been professionally restored and are near excellent with a nice grain and well done checkering. The original butt plate and pistol grip cap have been retained. The gun shows double triggers and standard ectractors. The stock measures 14 ½” to the end of the hard rubber butt plate. There is a 2 ½” drop at the heel and a 18 5/8” drop at the comb with no cast. The gun locks nicely and there is no problems with the bores or barrels. The quality of the refinishing on the case colors is much better than normally found with beautiful and vibrant color. The pommel nut is brass and shows a good patina, and this is a good looking original 19th century Chevalier with the highly desirable California mark. Note: If this grip is changed it was done by a knife maker in the 19th century and this cataloger believes that the grip is original; however several Bowie knife collectors have dissented, stating that it is a period change at time of knife's use. The stock measures 13 ¼” to the end of the wood and 14 1/8” to the end of the pad. Matching serial numbers and a very crisp and high-quality model 12 with pretty wood which is in very good condition. The gun shows a beaver tail forend and a fancy Burl wood checkered and carved stock. The gun is contained within a fancy leather case with Parker label and a canvas cover. A factory letter authenticates this Parker shotgun, serial number 236431 was completed on order April 12, 1934. According to Parker Brothers records it was shipped as a VHE 28 gauge on OO frame. The original 28 gauge, 30” barrel is choked improved modified right and full left. The 410 barrels are both choked improved modified. The stock measures 14” to the end of the checkered butt with skeleton steel butt plate. The stock shows a 2 ¼” drop at the heel and 1 3/8” drop at the comb with a slight cast of 1 ½” at the heel and 5/8” at the comb. The gun is fitted with a pre-war miller single trigger. Small bore pre-war Parkers are rare and desirable and this Parker shows an added bonus of having been rebuilt by Connecticut Shotgun Company with a great extra set of barrels made for use on this fine and rare Parker. The condition is excellent to mint as restored 99% plus. Factory letter and info from C. S. Shotgun Company included. Est.: $27,500- $55,000.

The stocks are good to very good with some normal aging, good sharp checkering and a couple minor dings, mars and etc. The original Nikko butt plate is retained. The barrels shows “Albert Greener, Fine Laminated Damascus” which is hand engraved on the rib. There are no serial numbers but British proofs on the barrels and actions with marking “not for ball” beneath the barrels on the breech. The barrels show an extra fine pattern with most of their original tobacco brown which is at least 75% to 85% intact. The bores are in exceptional original condition and still bright. The action is nicely engraved with scrolls and hunting scenes with the name Albert Greener on each lock. The locks retain 30% to 50% original case hardening. The stocks are high quality checkered walnut and in very good plus to near fine original condition. The original grip cap and butt plate are retained. The stock measures 13 ¾” to the end of the original steel plate. The barrels measure 30” and are choked improved modified in both barrels. There are no problems with the barrels and the action is tight at the breech. Albert Greener was the son of W.W. Greener and his guns are somewhat uncommon as he was known to have immigrated to Australia and retired early from the British arms business. Est.: $600-$1200

Item number: 19237432 | J. Nowotny, Praha, Czechoslovakia marked high quality double barrel exposed hammer 16 gauge shotgun with rounded actions and steel barrels. This very high quality maker and his family were gunmakers to the royalty of Europe for generations. The gun shows 29 ½” barrels with full 2 ¾”chambers and shows premium Krupp steel marked barrels. The stock measures 13 ¾” to the end of the horn butt plate which is nicely checkered with a matching checkered horn pistol grip cap. There is a 2 ½” drop at the heel and 1 ¾” drop at the comb with no appreciable cast. The barrels show 80% to 90% original blue toning to a patina and the frame shows 50% to 60% case hardened color going to silver with some traces of vibrant colors. There is light engraving on the frame and mounts. The stock is good quality straight grain Walnut with crisp checkering and in very good condition. The gun locks tight and the bores are bright and there are no problems with the barrels. The hammers cock well and release crisp. A very fine name that is much underappreciated in this country. The barrel is of medium weight and the action is good. The bore is dirty but appears to be very good plus and may clean to excellent. The barrel shows nickel steel markings for smokeless powder and is a correct .405 caliber not a re-chamber. The top of the frame shows matting at the center with offset proof. The frame and barrel show 50% to 70% original blue drifting and toning at the edges with some slight erosion, minor scratches and normal aging. The butt stock is custom-made with a high rise cheek piece and is pre-war. The rifle has been fitted with quick detachable sling swivels and a hard rubber recoil pad added. The markings are sharp, the action is crisp and the bore is very good plus and may clean to excellent. The fore end has been refinished to match the finish on the replacement butt stock. The stock measures 13 ½” to the end of the wood and 14 ¼” to the end of the pad. The original .405 caliber of model 95’s have become extremely scarce and desirable and this may be a restoration candidate or a fine shooter. Est.: $1250-$2500
